Meet our new President and CEO, Shonna Shearson

Hello! I am thrilled to introduce myself to you as First U.S. Community Credit Union’s new CEO. I’m following the line of great leaders who have led this organization in service to its members and the community. You have my commitment to keep that legacy going as we continue to grow and expand our ability to enhance our members’ lives. I am humbled to be in your service.

As I relocate to the Sacramento area, I couldn’t be more excited. The vibrant art and history in the “City of Trees” draws me in, and the people I’ve met through the relocation process could not be nicer or more helpful. My heart is full of gratitude.

I opened my first credit union account at age 15 and now have nearly a quarter-century of credit union leadership experience. I have a passion for people and helping them achieve their goals. Following the credit union mission of People Helping People, we will continue to focus on the interpersonal service you’ve come to expect and rely upon, while developing new and innovative products and services to help you meet your financial goals.

An example of how First U.S. has been concentrating on your changing needs is our Keeping it Green program. Keeping it Green is a growing portfolio of services that focuses on energy efficiency and making green energy affordable. With programs like our GoGreen Loan for home energy improvements, APR discounts on hybrid/electric vehicles, and low-rate EV charger/charging station loans, you’ve helped avert 129.7 tons of greenhouse gas emissions through the end of 2022.

I’m filled with excitement, optimism and an open heart for the road ahead. First U.S. has seen great success and growth, and I look forward to the new ways we will positively impact the community and membership in the future.

(The greenhouse gas equivalency values are pulled from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator – and preventing 129.7 tons of GHG is the equivalent of recycling 41 tons of waste!)
